Liz Phair "Mesmerizing"

Liz Phair "Divorce Song"

Talking Heads "Once In a Lifetime" (esp. live version from Stop Making Sense)

The Smiths "How Soon is Now?"

Lo-Fidelity All Stars "Battle Flag"

What the hell is this? It's like the soundtrack of an awful alternate future after the French somehow won the American Revolution.

I can listen to "White Man in Hammersmith Palais" until my ears bleed.
[this is good]
I hope you are tipping your hand as to what is in store for KttD VIII.
FS: Good choices, all. Must admit that I'm not familiar with the lo-fi all stars. Where to check them out?

Dabysan: Blame Soo for this one. He was the first person to introduce me to Gainsbourg. I must admit, I'm hooked. You should really expand your horizons beyond NME.

Hotrod: I thought duets were not allowed this year. I'd like to see you do this one with Mwambat.
Soo introduced you to Serge Gainsbourg? How entirely unshocking. But yeah, NME is a false prophet, not to be trusted.

Vanna and I were just discussing KttDuets with the Mehaffeys earlier this evening. They are not expressly prohibited; it's just that no one has ever done one. Dan and Sarah seem to be considering it, and the song they're considering seems to be Jackson. It's not a winning song, but I'd like to see it happen.

I'd add 6'-1" to that list of liz Phair songs on repeat. It can bump the Smiths out of there.

I'm not going to start another one of these Smiths fights, but I agree that 6'1" is a very fine song, indeed.

I'm not hip to the file sharing services, Emma, but a quick Google search seems to indicate it's out there. It also turns up pretty frequently on Fred, if you have XM.

I've expanded my horizons plenty in recent years. I listen to all the wussy music now. But this is crappy. French and crappy. NME has backed a few stinkers, but it's success rate is certainly higher than Soo's.
"So Lonely" the Police. Preferably the live 1979 version found on "The Police-Live!"
