Song of the Day: Everyone Choose Sides
Here's been a thought of mine lately: Where do I buy a big flag with a depiction of a donkey mutilating an elephant, Sic semper tyrannus style? Because that's what I hope the Democrats are going to do Nov. 7. I'd like to climb atop the fountain in the middle of Dupont Circle and wave it around that night. I want to hang it from the balcony. I want to carry it into the GOP-leaning suburbs and taunt.
Until then, I'm still on about the Wrens. They played the Black Cat Saturday night with a set list that was heavy on both Secaucus and Meadowlands. The crowd was a little thin (Halloween weekend?), the soundman was sleeping on the job (feedback) and the opening band could not have been more pretentious (don't make a film of yourself while you're on stage). But damn if Everyone Choose Sides doesn't make me jump up and down like the fangirl I am.

ninety minutes was about the length of it, and under other circumstances i might have objected. but it seemed exactly right at the time. i was pretty tired though. they've pulled that "boys, you won't" stunt before, though.
